Cooperstown Complete Card Set
All three previously released Cooperstown card sets unite into one epic collection! Including over 100 new entries, you’ll find individual cards for nearly 500 real-life big-league baseball players and eighteen umpires, presented neatly in crisp, nine-to-a-page perforated sheets. Each card is based on (one of) that player's key season(s). Includes those already enshrined in baseball's hall of fame, as well as many who are on the fringes of induction, from "shoo-in" to "long-shot."
The history of baseball is at your fingertips with this new presentation of Hall-of-Fame-worthy History Maker Baseball cards! Inspired by the movie "Field of Dreams," these Cooperstown Cards allow you to combine players from different eras into legendary baseball teams of your own design! Or, just enjoy going through the cards and savoring baseball history.
We first created a hall-of-fame themed set in 2014, as a reward for our Kickstarter project that funded the manufacture of the "decider die" that comes standard with every copy of HMB. The cards were designed to be reminiscent of baseball trading cards: each card contains all of the necessary ratings for our game, and ALSO includes a couple of lines of text summarizing the player’s career. You can read about the players, and then..watch them play! In 2019, we re-designed and expanded the set to include all of the modern players who'd been inducted into the hall. In 2020, we added a "Pioneers" subset, which included inductees from baseball's early days. In 2021, we expanded the set further to include over 100 Cooperstown "hopefuls," players NOT in the hall, but who were in the conversation.
But this new card set is WAY more than a re-print of the earlier cards. We've combined these three sets into one, comprehensive card set of baseball greats AND added a NEW "footnotes" category! Cooperstown "Footnotes" are players whose careers may not have been hall-worthy, but nonetheless they had an endearing or enduring contribution to the game that bears remembering. Remember Eddie Gaedel? The smallest player (3 feet, seven inches tall) ever to play in a big league game? Or Chan Ho Park, the only big league pitcher every to give up two grand slam home runs in the same inning! Everyone knows that Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's home run record--but, who's record did Babe Ruth break? (He's carded in this set!)
As a bonus, we've also officially carded the thirteen Cooperstown "Exile" players we originally offered (in 2022) as a free newsletter download.
Most notably, we've completely re-designed these cards to make them eminently play-able and fun to own. First, we've made them bigger: each card is now the size of a standard baseball trading card, 2.5" x 3.5" in size. Second, we created a classic, understated color palette, reminiscent of the displays inside the hall of fame. Each of the "sets within the set" has a distinctive color-coded background and a notation on the card footer so you can easily identify which group the player is part of.
With this new set of Cooperstown cards, the sky's the limit on what kind of historic, timeless baseball fun you can have! Choose up sides and have at it in any number of exciting ways. Have the greats of one era clash with the greats of another. Put together a truly epic "Murderer's Row' featuring the greatest power hitters of all-time, or create a pitching staff of "unbeatable" stars from yesterday. Or, you can create an entire "Timeless Diamond" league, there's enough players here for up to 24 teams! We've even done the bookwork for you, providing the rosters we created for our Timeless Diamond event at the Hall of Fame (10.14.23).
