The 150th season of professional baseball saw a first-ever championship for the star-crossed Washington franchise transplanted from Montreal in 2005. The Nats started the season with 31 losses in their first 50 games, sat ten games out of the division lead and were written off by many. From May 23rd on, though, Washington was the best team in baseball. Atlanta hung on to win the division, but the club from the Nation's Capital would not be denied in the playoffs. Washington dispatched Milwaukee in the wild card game, bested Los Angeles (which had the best record in the league, 106-56) in the semi-finals, swept St. Louis for the league pennant and closed out a memorable season coming back from a 3-games-to-2 deficit to win games 6 and 7 of the fall classic against Houston.
But—who'll be league-best on YOUR tabletop? That's where the FUN begins! Re-start the playoffs and see if you get the same result. Meanwhile LA's Ryu and New York's deGrom will prove just as valuable on your tabletop mound as they were in real-life, and Houston's fireballing closer Osuna will time and again shut 'em down! In the field, guys like Arenado, Ahmed, Bellinger and Kiermaier will make game-saving plays in the grass (or dirt), while Philadelphia's backstop star Realmuto will be among your top signal-callers behind the plate.
