You’re Invited: The PLAAY Games Online Christmas Party, 12.16.21
Well, the Holiday Sale is in the books, all orders are out the door, and now it's time to have a party! The PLAAY Games Online Christmas party is Thursday night, December 16th, 6pm MST LIVE on the PLAAY Games YouTube Channel! And YOU'RE invited!
We've been giving a lot of thought to how we can make this party special. We want it to be interactive, engaging and fun! So, here's our plan...
• We're going to lean heavily on the YouTube chat and poll features for the interactive element of the party. In the past, we've tried Facebook Rooms, Discord and Zoom. Seems like when you add remote video to the mix, things get dicey. On the other hand, pretty much every stream we do, there's a lively chat room. It's easy to join the conversation by posting a comment or an emoji, but you can also just "listen in" and enjoy the chatter without commenting yourself. We feel like it's the most inclusive way to interact, so we're going to roll with it. We'll start the party with a couple quick ice-breakers that anyone/everyone can participate in.
• We’ll start the online party with "Christmas Survey SAYS..." kind of a riff on Family Feud. Here's how it works: take the survey between now and Wednesday evening (6pm MST, 12.15.21), and we'll compile all the results. The person(s) with the most matches (based on what everyone else chose for the survey) wins a PLAAY Games Gift card! We'll reveal the #1 answers and announce the winner(s) at the start of the party, 6pm MST Thursday! Ho ho ho!! Here’s the link for the survey!
• NEW this year is the White Elephant Gift Exchange! We floated this idea on the Community Facebook page and got an enthusiastic response. It's simple: people mail us a SMALL (low-value) sports themed item, and if you mail us something, you're in the exchange! Everyone who MAILS a gift will GET a gift back in the mail!
There ARE a couple of IMPORTANT guidelines for the White Elephant Gift Exchange so PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!…
[ 1 ] PLEASE keep your gift to UNDER one pound mailing weight; [ 2 ] Gifts should be sports-themed, but don't have to be PLAAY or board game-related; [ 3 ] Used/second-hand is OK, but nothing that's totally worn out.
Also, it's important that you mail your item ON or BEFORE December 8th, so that we receive the package no later than the day before the party! (We have to create random-draw slips, a gift board screen graphic, etc.) E-mail us if you need our mailing address.
We'll throw a few PLAAY games gifts into the mix, and pick a few gift-getters from those party-goers who didn't/weren't able to meet the gift-mailing deadline. So even if you don't send a gift, you could still win! And, in true White Elephant Exchange form, we WILL allow "stealing" of gifts! (We'll explain all this on the stream...)
• We'll also have our annual North Pole vs. South Pole game, the elves and grinches will be playing dodgeball this year! As always, special guest AFR Steve will join us as the Head Grinch of the South Pole squad! Afterwards, we'll make the cards available for free download so you can have your own holiday match with family, friends, or solo on your game table!
• At the end of the party we have a free gift for everyone! As you may know, we'll be an exhibitor at the 2022 Dice Tower West Convention in Las Vegas in March. While PLAAY Games is pretty well-known in the sports game community, this is an opportunity to meet new gamers from the general board game community, who might not be aware of us. Our plan is to offer a big bowl of business cards to convention-goers, each with a "PLAAY"-able game on it! So far, we've come up with four different business card games, and we'll be offering a free download of the early-early version of them during the party, along with a quick demo-session for each. Try 'em out, tell us what you think! We'll use your feedback for the final product in Las Vegas.
The PLAAY Games Online Christmas Party will start at 6:00pm MST, 8:00pm EST, Thursday evening December 16th. We should be wrapped up before 8:00pm MST (10:00pm EST). Bring snacks and prepare to have fun!
